Due to the adoption of new by-laws, the Huntsville Theological Institute will be hiring a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary this spring. Interested parties should submit a resume including at least three references and a list of publications to careers@huntsvilletheo.org no later than March 31. Emails should state what position the applicant is interested in. The hiring committee will schedule interviews during the month of April as required. The Board of Directors will hold a vote on the positions in its second quarter meeting.
Positions Available
Description: The president of the institute manages, leads, and ensures effective operations of the Huntsville Theological Institute and its programs and is responsible for setting its vision, mission, goals, and plans. The president is responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the institute and discharges such other and further duties as may be required by the Board of Directors in the proper conduct of the business of the institute. The president is responsible for hiring such employees required to execute HTI’s mission. The president is responsible for all contracts, deeds, conveyances, grant applications, and other instruments necessary to the transaction of the business of the institute. The president executes the policies, procedures, and directives of the Board of Directors. The president calls special meetings of the Board of Directors when necessary and must call a special meeting upon the request of a majority of the directors. The president is the chief fundraiser for the institute and is responsible for setting tuition rates, recruiting donors, and raising funds necessary to support the institute’s operations and maintain its financial health and growth. The position of president starts as part-time but may expand as the institute grows. The president serves one-year terms but may be reelected annually when eligible. The president may not hold any other permanent position in the institute but will also serve as a director.
Requirements: The president must have at least a master’s degree (or equivalent) in education, business, liberal arts, theology, or divinity. The president must have at least three years of experience as a pastor or in managing an organization of at least fifteen employees with oversight of a budget of at least $75,000 per year. Candidates who are already familiar with HTI, its mission, and its donors and students will be preferred. The president must be a thought-leader. Applicants for president will include a list of publications on theological, historical, biblical, or pastoral topics.
Description: The vice president serves as the assistant to the president in leading and managing HTI according to the direction of the president and the Board of Directors. In the absence or incapacity of the president, the vice president has the same power and authority as, and performs the duties of, the president. The vice president is the Academic Dean of the institute and is responsible for creating, developing, and managing the programs in coordination with the president’s guidance and directives. The vice president is responsible for recruiting and managing instructors, helping them with developing course materials or other requirements, and planning the academic schedule. The vice president directly manages the registrar and oversees teacher and student management. The vice president is the chief recruiter of new students and directs recruiting efforts. The vice president is the primary interface to the students and counsels them on career paths. The position of vice president starts as part-time but may expand as the institute grows. The vice president serves two-year terms but may be reelected annually when eligible.
Requirements: The vice president must have at least a master’s degree (or equivalent) in education, business, liberal arts, theology, or divinity. Experience with managing educational, business, or marketing programs involving at least $10,000 in funding is a plus. Candidates who are already familiar with HTI, its mission, and its donors and students will be preferred. The vice president must be a thought-leader. Applicants for president will include a list of publications on theological, biblical, or pastoral topics.
Description: The secretary serves both as the secretary of the institute and the Board of Directors but will not be a voting member of the Board unless duly elected as a director. It is the duty of the secretary to keep a record of the proceedings of the Board of Directors. When required, he or she attests the signature of the president on all contracts, deeds, conveyances and all other instruments and obligations in writing, of whatever kind or nature, authorized by the Board of Directors to be entered into and executed by the institute. The secretary serves all notices required by law or by the Bylaws of the institute and in case of the secretary’s absence, inability or refusal to act, then all of his or her responsibilities may be performed by a secretary pro tempore, to be appointed by the president, or vice president when performing the duties of the president. The secretary maintains copies of all documents, contracts, deeds, policies, and other records. The secretary provides copies of all documents upon request of the Board of Directors or president. The secretary maintains copies of all academic records and is responsible for providing transcripts, certificates, and diplomas to students upon graduation or upon demand. The secretary is responsible for overseeing office and classroom management, setting meetings, and keeping records of all meetings. The secretary is responsible for all office software and technology used in meetings, classrooms, and the office. The position of secretary will start as part-time but may expand as the institute grows. The secretary serves two-year terms but may be reelected annually when eligible. The secretary may not hold any other permanent position in the institute unless elected as director.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in education, business, science, liberal arts, or theology is preferred. Candidates who are already familiar with HTI, its mission, and its donors and students will be preferred.
Description: The treasurer shall be the chief financial officer of the institute and the treasurer of the Board of Directors. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the treasurer shall have custody and control of all the funds and securities of the institute and shall maintain such accounts and securities required to manage funds. The treasurer shall oversee the disbursement of the funds of the institute in accordance with the directions of the Board of Directors and president, taking and preserving proper records for such disbursements, and shall render an account of all his or her transactions as treasurer and of the financial condition of the institute, pursuant to generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), whenever called upon to do so. The treasure shall be responsible for payment of taxes and maintaining records of tax payments and tax exempt status. The treasurer shall perform all other duties related to the financial management of the institute as may from time to time be assigned by the Board or the president. The treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining all financial software, including payroll and banking systems. The treasurer shall oversee such audits and provide reports as requested by the Board of Directors or president in order to ensure proper financial management of the institute. The treasurer shall be responsible for purchasing securities or investing that may improve the institute’s financial position with presidential and Board of Engineers approval. The position of treasurer will start as part-time but may expand as the institute grows. The treasurer serves two-year terms but may be reelected annually when eligible.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, business information systems, finance, or accounting is preferred. The treasurer must have experience with managing finances with oversight of a budget of at least $50,000 per year. Membership in professional accounting organizations a plus. Candidates who are already familiar with HTI, its mission, and its donors and students will be preferred.
